Socio Economic Profile and Nutritional Status of the Rickshaw Pullers of Dhaka City Along with their Energy Intake Gap

Background This study focused on nutritional status of the rickshaw pullers, their dietary energy and nutrients consumption along with intake gap as compared to expenditure. Methods A cross sectional was carried out at 15 different important locations Dhaka city during December-January 2018. In total, 670 pullers from these were randomly selected. Printed predesigned validated semi structured questionnaire used record necessary information. Nutritional determined according Asia specific BMI cut- off values. Energy expenditure calculated using Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Physical Activity Level (PAL) value. 24-hour recall method administered for analysis. Results About 65.4% them found within normal range. 11.5% underweight about 23.1% having more than BMI. Percentage both (39.0%) overweight (35.8%) higher among those who between 25 35 years.
